On November 3, Ottawa’s student club, the Israel Awareness Committee had a series of speakers at Carleton University. Ben Dror Yemini a Journalist from Maariv as well as Nonie Darwish. Yemini demonstrated that Israel is demonized in the media, referencing to global genocides that are not covered in news. He drew that Israel has suffered greatly from its negative portrayal in the media and resolved that this imagery is a catalyst for Anti Israel sentiments. Darwish spoke about her experience as an Egyptian women rebelling from Islamic faith. She discussed different Muslim laws. Her presentation sparked much debate amongst students at the lecture which resulted in interesting and fruitful discussions.
