On Nov 2, the anniversary of the Balfour Deceleration, Dr. Asher Susser spoke to a room of 60+ students and community members. In partnership with CIPS and The Graduate School of Public and International Relations at Ottawa U, Dr. Susser addressed the Israel/ Palestine debate. His thesis was that external players will not be able to bring peace to the region, that only internal players and grassroots efforts will afford peace in the middle east. Susser’s success was based on questions fielded regarding the A Word, the Wall, the historical wars of 48 and 67, the Oslo accord, Camp David and Obama. He was enchanting, engaging and eloquent.
